features on Pro Tools for the award-winning Newark public radio station WBGO 88.3 FM.

 BROOKLYN’S UNDERGROUND RAILROAD: I received a New York Association of Black Journalists award in 2011 for my radio feature below. I won first place for the ‘General Features Long’ category. For this story, I went to Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims in Brooklyn Heights, New York for an inside look at one of the registered Underground Railroad sites. |  As part of WBGO’s aural history project, ‘Newark's Jazz Heyday,’ I conducted dozens of interviews to relive Newark’s jazz scene from the '40s to '60s through the memories of people who were there. I talked to everyone, from the local barber to an author who published a book about Newark’s nightlife. After several months of gathering interviews and research, I put together a vivid ten-minute radio feature that goes back in time, when Newark’s jazz scene was the place to be. |

 The Mayhem Poets - International poetry group |  One-on-one interview: I had the pleasure of interviewing saxophonist Tia Fuller. Tia is a very well-known jazz musician who is a member of Beyonce’s all-female band. Tia has released three albums and she was a part of the Beyonce Experience World Tour. I got the chance to sit down at the WBGO studio and talk with Tia about her musical background and how it is to tour with a mega star. |
 SPOTLIGHT: FEMALE JAZZ MUSICIANS The focus of this story was profiling all-female jazz musicians. Aside from Tia’s interview, I conducted phone interviews with well-known jazz pianist and educator Lenore Raphael and Israeli jazz clarinetist, Anat Cohen. |  SPOTLIGHT: FEMALE JAZZ MUSICIANS Israeli jazz clarinetist, Anat Cohen also performed at Rutgers University where I recorded live pieces of her music and used it in the feature as well. |
